Interaction Design for a Connected World

Posted: Tuesday, January 15, 2013 View Comments

Connecting is an 18-minute documentary by Bassett & Partners exploring the future of Interaction Design on our devices and the world of tomorrow.

Ultimately, when the digital and physical worlds become one, humans along with technology are potentially on the path to becoming a "super organism" capable of influencing and enabling a broad spectrum of new behaviors in the world.

Skeuomorphism, contextual information, social synergy. Despite the abundance of buzzwords on this video - there’s no denying that Natural User Interfaces is the future (and was, even before the iPhone touch-screen devices started it)

Dark Patterns: User Interfaces Designed to Trick People

Posted: Wednesday, April 6, 2011 View Comments

A very interesting talk by Harry Brignull on user Interface design of ecommerce websites. His presentation Dark Patterns: User Interfaces Designed to Trick People discusses some unethical and black-hat methods using subtle UI (or lack of it) to trick people to pay more for a service or unwanted item.

With the surge of e-commerce here in the Philippines like airline flight bookings, flower deliveries, and even fast food orders, more and more transactions are done online with just a click of button. I’m sure we have our share of “evil” designers in to trick people of their hard earn money.

Do you know any Philippine website that employs a confusing user interface? or one that intentionally obscures pertinent information that the buyer should know beforehand? share them in the comments.

They are also offering free templates downloads that you can print on your own and use for projects. That’s nice of them. (hey send me some samples! :)

Microsoft's Metro UI is now on the Windows Phone 7 Series

With the introduction of the Windows Phone 7 Series Microsoft decided that moving on to the minimalistic direction and user interface of Metro was the only way to save Windows Mobile.

The Metro UI was first seen on Windows Media Center which made it's debut on Windows XP specifically in Windows XP Media Center. The UI made menu surfing and content browsing easier on a remote control or arrow cursor. This was when Internet television was still in its early stage.
